Utah Chapter History
|
The Salt Lake Chapter of ISACA®, then called the EDP Auditors Association, was formed during the first half of 1974.
Later that next year, the MITS Altair 8800 computer was advertised in popular mechanics. The Salt Lake chapter was
formed by 5 individuals that met and agreed to form a chapter. One of the requirements after meeting in July 1974, was
to have a minimum of eight people necessary to form the chapter. The initial organization committee consisted of
executives and employees from the following organizations:
- Mr. E. C. Hitchcock, First Security Company - Chairman
- Mr. M. Anderson, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Secretary
- Mr. A. Lilley, Kennecott Copper Corp.
- Mr. A. H. Walker, Mountain Fuel Supply Co.
- Mr. F. Orme, Prudential Federal Savings and Loan
Other charter members belonged to the following organizations:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain Fuel Supply, Utah Technical College, Ernst and Ernst, Kennecott
Copper, Main Lafrentz, Elmer Fox and Company, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., Valley Bank and Trust Company, Walker Bank
and Trust Company, Touche and Ross, Tracy-Collins Bank and Trust, Brigham Young University, State of Utah Auditor’s Office.
Upon formation the chapter came in to existence and a number of meetings were held later that year, incorporating bylaws
and making the necessary decisions that were needed to operate the EDP Auditors Association.
Today the chapter has over 150 active members which include 70 Certified Information Systems AuditorsTM and 14 Certified
Information Security Managers®.
